Daphne Branche is a Woman To Watch
Written by Les Rickford Saturday, 01 August 2009
On a Saturday afternoon at the end of a week of noteworthy achievement, Mrs. Daphne Branche was serenaded by a children’s singing group, then lauded and applauded by her peers, at the monthly meeting of the Krio Descendants Union of Texas.
Mrs. Branche was earlier this month named one of 49 Women to Watch by The Dallas Business Journal at their second Annual Women in Business Awards Dinner. Recognized for her leadership qualities and her commitment to philanthropy Mrs. Branche sets a shining example for young women, indeed young people, in her community and beyond. Her workplace, accounting firm Deloitte where she is an International Tax Partner, recognized here in the memo displayed below.
Daphne Branche is a woman to watch:
The Dallas Business Journal has selected International Tax Director, Daphne Branch as a “DFW Top 25 Women to Watch” honoree. Daphne was nominated for the award by an external colleague and will be receiving the award at a luncheon ceremony on July 16, 2009.
The award recognizes women who have demonstrated leadership in their respective companies, professions, and in giving back – accomplished women whose achievements make them excellent role models. See a complete list of the esteemed nominees.
Daphne joined Deloitte in 2004. Prior to a career in public accounting, she obtained her B.S. degree in Accounting and Economics from the University of Sierra Leone and her MBA in International Business from the University of Dallas. During her time at Deloitte, she has assumed a key role of influence and leadership in the Dallas International Tax practice because of her strong marketplace and technical competencies relevant to the field.

Daphne was selected from a distinguished pool of candidates with distinct backgrounds. Daphne’s contributions, which impacted citizens locally and globally, made her an ideal honoree.
At Deloitte, Daphne is active in promoting diversity and inclusion through the Black Employee Network. Externally, she participates in humanitarian programs which have enhanced and rebuilt the lives of people in the DFW community, as well as those in her country of birth, Sierra Leone, West Africa.
She most recently participated in the development of a mentoring program and an Accounting Career Awareness program at Dunbar Learning Center (an elementary school in Dallas ISD), as well as in the creation of a virtual learning center for children nine through 13 years old in Sierra Leone.
Congratulations to Daphne. Her volunteer work truly encompasses Deloitte’s commitment to diversity and is a testament to the global reach of Deloitte and its contributions through individual service.
